Climate Summit & COP28

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Protest March and Summit – you were all Brilliant! Great thanks (not in any specific order) to Mayday Morris Dancers (political protest dance), The Plymouth Climate Choir, the XR Spirits and COP-Out marchers, the wonderful Samba Band, the Plymouth University Students’ Environment Society, Feminist Fusion, and the Plymouth Trades Union Council.

The staff of the Athenaeum Theatre and the Momus Cafe, and most vitally, Michal’s vegan food provision, were so supportive and caring.

The public discourse and disclosure about the issues and level of climate crisis was raised in Plymouth as a result of the day’s initiative. We continue and progress the work for understanding and system change to adapt to the extremes of weather and the climate catastrophe already engulfing the Global South. The COP process is wholly corrupt, driven by the fossil-fuelled system, and requires constant challenge.

December 2nd 2023

We’ve relaunched Plymouth’s Climate Movement for the Autumn run towards COP28 when we’ll march again and join in our alternative People’s Climate Summit in Plymouth on 2nd December, exposing the Greenwash lies and denial of the UN Climate Conference and building societal change from the grassroots. πŸ™ŒπŸŒŽπŸ”₯#ifnotusthenwho#ifnotnowthenwhen#SystemChangeNotClimateChange

March for Climate Justice!

On 2nd December we will assemble with a Rally at the Jigsaw Park, Eastlake Street (Drake’s Circus) at 12 midday to march through Plymouth’s City Centre at 1pm and come together at the Plymouth Athenaeum at 2pm for free vegan food and relaxation ahead of the 3pm Climate Summit!

β€œThe COP28 United Nations Climate Conference will achieve next to nothing despite the deepening Climate catastrophe. Its up to us to build the system change needed, from the grassroots up!”

Climate Summit 2nd December

On Saturday afternoon, 3-6pm, we will hold a series of discussion circles to clarify and plan what needs to be done. Throughout the following week there will be daily events leading up to a further climate process, linked with the international Climate Justice Coalition, on Saturday 9th December in Plymouth.
